Are acne scars, surgical marks, or stretch marks holding back your confidence? At Azura Clinic, our PRP for Scar Reduction treatment harnesses your body’s own healing power to regenerate skin, even out tone and texture, and dramatically reduce the appearance of scars — all without surgery. With clinically backed methods, minimal downtime, and natural results, we help you reveal smoother, clearer skin.

Through a series of sessions, applying purified platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into or over scarred skin (optionally combined with microneedling or other adjuncts), we stimulate collagen growth, improve skin elasticity, and reduce the discoloration and depth of scars. Safe, effective, and tailored to your skin type.

What is PRP (Platelet‑Rich Plasma)?

PRP means “Platelet‑Rich Plasma.” It’s a concentrate of your own blood’s platelets and growth factors that are key to wound healing and tissue regeneration. The process involves drawing a small amount of your blood, processing it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, then applying or injecting this enriched plasma into scar‑tissue (sometimes combined with microneedling or other delivery methods) to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Benefits of PRP for Scar Reduction

Based on clinical studies:

  • Improves scar texture, color, and surface making scars less visible.

  • Reduces scar depth and severity, especially in atrophic (sunken) or post‑acne scars.

  • Speeds up healing, and reduces side effects from other treat‑ments (e.g. less redness, swelling post procedure) when used alongside lasers or microneedling.

  • Enhances skin elasticity and firmness by boosting natural collagen and elastin production.

  • Minimal downtime and low risk, since it’s using your own blood (autologous). Mild side effects like redness, swelling, tenderness are common but temporary.

 Who is a Good Candidate?

People who tend to benefit most from PRP for scar reduction are those who:

  • Have atrophic scars (e.g. acne scars such as rolling, boxcar, or ice‑pick scars) or surgical/trauma scars.
  • Have realistic expectations (improvement, not perfect erasure).
  • Are in good overall health, without active skin infections in the treatment area.
  • Do not have blood clotting disorders or conditions that impair wound healing.
  • Prefer natural, non‑surgical treatments.
  • Are willing to commit to multiple sessions (often 3‑6) for fuller results.

What to Expect (Results & Timeline)

  • Consultation & Skin Assessment — We evaluate your scar type (atrophic, hypertrophic, keloid, stretch marks, etc.) and skin tone, plan how many sessions you’ll need.
  • Treatment Preparation — Cleanse area, apply numbing cream if needed.
  • PRP Application — Blood drawn, PRP prepared, then applied topically or injected. For deeper scars or texture issues, microneedling may be used to enhance absorption.
  • Sessions & Schedule — Generally 3‑6 sessions, spaced 3‑4 weeks apart.
  • Expected Results — Early improvements become visible after the 2nd or 3rd session; more dramatic results over several months.

How a PRP for Scar Reduction Works at Azura Clinic (Typical Process)

Here’s a step‑by‑step walkthrough of what someone can expect during a PRP for Scar Reduction session at a clinic like Azura:

Step What Happens
Consultation Your clinician examines your scars, skin type, medical history, and expectations. Photos may be taken for progress tracking.
Preparation Cleanse the treatment area. A topical numbing cream is applied to reduce discomfort. Stop any blood thinning meds if advised.
Blood Draw & Centrifugation A small sample of blood is drawn from your arm (usually ~10‑30 mL). It is spun in a centrifuge to separate out plasma rich in platelets.
Application / Injection The PRP is either injected into the scarred tissue or applied topically. Often used with microneedling or other skin resurfacing to help penetration.
Post‑Treatment Soothing After PRP is applied, a soothing serum, mask, or cool compress may be used to calm the skin.
Duration Expect the session to last ~60 minutes including prep, numbing, and aftercare. Some variation depending on size and number of scars.
Downtime Mild redness, swelling, and sensitivity for 24‑48 hours. Some flaking or dryness may appear; usually manageable and subsides with proper aftercare.
